Awards Presentation Day 2026

Hwa Chong Institution held its annual Awards Presentation Day on 18 Jul 2026, celebrating students’ holistic achievements over the past year. These awards recognised students’ performance in various areas, such as academics, co-curricular activities, community service and leadership.

The Guest-of-Honour, Vice Admiral Aaron Beng (Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces), graced the occasion with an impactful speech. Reflecting on Singapore’s journey, he urged the awardees to look beyond well-trodden paths as they step into an unpredictable future, find meaning in what they do, and endeavour to make contributions to the greater good. “If all of you commit to doing something – no matter how big or small – for our national good, I think Singapore will be in a strong position for many years to come.”

Our Principal, Mr Lee Peck Ping, anchored his address in Hwa Chong’s core values, urging students to embody Relentless Self-Improvement 《自强不息》 and Win–Win Partnership 《己立立人，己达达人》. Above all, he called on awardees to Remember the Source 《饮水思源》 by remaining grateful to their school and giving back to society.

Seah Jin Rong, Hwa Chong’s Student of the Year and Valedictorian, also gave a poignant speech, reflecting on his rewarding six-year journey at Hwa Chong. His personal reflections resonated with fellow awardees, while the addresses as a whole offered valuable insights and an opportunity to look back on their own Hwa Chong experience.

During the ceremony, awardees and their families were treated to musical performances. Joelle Ran, performed a heartfelt piano and vocal medley of《细水长流》and《钟声依旧》, while Athena Foo and Kerry Lim of Hwa Chong Chinese Orchestra performed an impressive yangqin and pipa duet of《雪落下的声音》.
