Hwa Chong Students Recognised for Holistic Excellence17 Aug 2018
We would like to congratulate all Hwa Chong students who received the Ministry of Education’s Special Awards from Ms Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth at the 2018 Special Awards Presentation Ceremony held on 14 August 2018. The annual Special Awards recognise students’ achievements in both academic and non-academic spheres.
The Prime Minister’s Book Prize (PMBP) is an annual award for bilingualism given to primary, secondary and pre-University university students. Hwa Chong students were awarded the lion’s share of the PMBP.

The Lee Kuan Yew Award for Outstanding Normal Course Students (LKY-ONC) Award is presented to the top Normal (Academic) and top Normal (Technical) course students, based on their GCE ‘O’ level and ‘N’ level examination results respectively.

The Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding Bicultural Students (LHL-OBS) was first presented in 2010 to outstanding students in the Bicultural Special Programme (BSP). Today, it is a recognition of students who are conversant in Chinese/Malay and are able to engage our Asian neighbours as well as relate to the West. Hwa Chong students were conferred the highest number of awards for the LHL-OBS.

The Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All Round Achievements award (LHL-OAA) recognises the outstanding academic and non-academic achievements of post-secondary students, particularly those who have made outstanding contributions to the community and demonstrated the spirit of innovation and enterprise.
