A Hwa Chong team from the Humanities and Current Affairs Society, comprising Lim Li Gang (15A15), Clara Low Puay Cheng (15A15), Josea Evan (15A15), Kuah Xuan Rong Sharon (15A15), Tan Yi Lin Isabella (15A15) and Chang Tse Hwee, Joey (15A15) participated in the Young Mayor Urban Planning Competition. Organized by Activistar Advocacy, it is an international township planning competition that entailed a proposal-writing component, followed by a presentation and a model-making session on 2 and 3 April 2016. Under the guidance of Mrs Chua-Ngui Li Young (Education Consultant/Geography), the team emerged champion of the Senior Category A and also clinched the Best Prototype title for their model.

Josea Evan (15A15) can attest to how enriching the experience was:
"Through this competition, we learnt how to consider the different stakeholders when planning for a city as it is after all, about meeting the needs for the people."
