Hwa Chong Students Excel at ISEF

29 May 2017

Singapore’s students achieved commendable results at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) 2017. Held in Los Angeles, California from 14 to 19 May this year, Intel ISEF 2017 is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition. Every year, more than 1,750 high school students from about 75 countries, regions and territories showcase their independent research.

We would like to congratulate the team comprising Bryan Lim Wei Leong (17S7D), Shawn Lim Hai Leong (17S7B), Dominic Yap Wei Ting (17S7G), who won a special award presented by King Abdul Aziz & his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity. This cultural foundation was set up by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to nurture the development of technologies for renewable energy, particularly in the field of water technology. The winning project developed by Hwa Chong students entailed an innovative water purification bag containing carbon and silver nanoparticle absorbents synthesised in an eco-friendly manner from coffee waste.
