Hwa Chong Student Clinches Top Prize at MAS-ESS Essay Competition 201507 Jan 2016
Tan Yi Ying (14A15) has been awarded the top prize at the MAS-ESS Essay Competition 2015, which is co-organised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Economic Society of Singapore.
The MAS-ESS Essay Competition is an annual competition that is open to all pre-University students studying in Singapore, regardless of nationality, as well as all pre-University Singaporean students studying abroad. The competition sees submission from students from Polytechnics, Centralised Institutes, International Schools and Junior Colleges, as well as pre-University full time national servicemen.
The question for the 2015 competition was “What will be a good framework to maintain Singapore’s competitiveness in the next 50 years?”, and participants were required to provide an in-depth analysis that discussed the contemporary challenges facing Singapore and provide innovative ideas and approaches to secure sustainable and inclusive growth,
Yi Ying’s experience as Student Editor of the Hwa Chong Publications Society would surely have helped her in writing an insightful essay that won over the judges. Also, we would like to congratulate Yi Ying and her mentor, Mr Tan Koon Ho Andrew (Senior Teacher/ Economics) on this noteworthy achievement.
Her essay can be read here.Learn more about General News at HCI
