The Hwa Chong Advantage
Guidance & Counselling
As part of a broader programme looking into the well-being of our students, the unit provides interactive care, support and guidance for students and equips them with the skills to embrace their experiences during their formative years. Students may approach the school counsellors should they need help. The unit also engages in student outreach to support students holistically in areas beyond the academic realms so they have positive experiences within the school.
If students encounter situations that disrupt their learning or school experiences, they are encouraged to seek help from their Civics Tutor or Faculty teachers if they are college students, and their Form Teachers or Teacher Counsellors if they are secondary students. They may also speak with the school counsellors.
The teachers and school counsellors will assist students to identify and engage opportunities for personal growth, expand their repertoire of coping resources, gain personal insights and enable personal changes to facilitate achievements in the education, social and career planning domains.
Counselling is confidential and a two-way engagement process between students and counsellor that requires students’ commitment and effort.
